GE announces it will be marketing a line of high pressure, high
temperature treated yellowish green diamonds through Pegasus Overseas
Limited .
Exposure to high temperature and high pressure changes the color of
select brown or brownish yellow body color diamonds into a
yellowish green to greenish yellow diamonds. The process creates
an optical center that is thought to produce the vibrant color.
In addition to a change in color these diamonds tend to exhibit
strong fluorescence when exposed to long-wave ultraviolet radiation.
GIA Gem Trade Laboratory reports will identify the color of these
diamonds as "treated color".
